Wednesday, January 9 – Day 7
Week one down, three more to go! Week one has definitely been a challenge, but well worth it. The week started off a little shaky, with a lot of headaches and cravings, however by the end of the week both the headaches and cravings have seemed to go away. I’m not sure whether that is due to Whole30 or the fact that I got new glasses over the weekend, but either way I am happy to be feeling better.
J and I have worked hard at planning meals in advance and cooking at home every night, except for our date on Friday, and things in the kitchen are going well. We have tried some new recipes, which will be featured here soon, and made some of our favorite Paleo recipes– that also comply with the Whole30– as well.
This weekend I am hoping to pick up Well Fed, a cookbook by Melissa Joulwan, one of my favorite Paleo bloggers — if you haven’t checked out her blog The Clothes Make the Girl you should go do so! All but one of the recipes in Well Fed are Whole30 approved. I’ve checked every Barnes and Noble in Boston but the book seems to be on backorder everywhere– there must be a lot of Whole30 new year resolutions happening in this city!
Finally, after a week on Whole30 and a week into the new year, I realized that I need to recommit to my 2013 goal to sweat more– is it bad that I have to recommit to a 2013 goal less than two weeks into the new year? That doesn’t mean I have to hit the gym for a two hour work everyday, but I need to make more of an effort to do some kind of activity that raises my heart rate. Maybe that means a run, a short ab workout or lifting some heavy furniture and rearranging the living room.

From January 3 through February 1, I’m documenting my Whole30 experience, including sleep, activity and food. Although I follow Paleo guidelines most of the time, I’m going all-in for the next 30 days to detox and restart my Paleo habits after an indulgent holiday season.
Interested, but not familiar with the Whole30? Read more here and here.
Not interested in the Whole30? Not to worry! I will still be posting recipes, outfits, crafts and other things, as well.
