Can you believe it is already the last week of January? It feels like only yesterday we were popping champagne and toasting to the new year. Usually I have forgotten my resolutions by the end of January, however this year I am taking steps to keep my goals for 2013! Here is a little Monday Morning Motivation to help you stay on track and achieve your new year goals.
1. Write them down. Whether you frame a list of your goals, create an inspiration board or put a post it on your fridge. Write down goals and put them in a place you will see them everyday.
2. Break them down. Don’t expect to accomplish all of your goals at once. Break them down into attainable pieces and plan them out. Use a planner, like these, to record your goals and write reminders to keep you motivated throughout the year.
3. Use an app. In the digital age there is no excuse for forgetting about your goals. Did you make fitness goals for 2013? Why not try out RunKeeper, an app that allows you to keep track of your workouts, view your progress and share your stats with friends. Financial goals? Mint allows you to create budgets and track your spending by integrating your accounts, including credit cards and loans, into one place. Did you resolve to get more organized this year? Wunderlist and Evernote are digital solutions that keep track of your priorities and lists across all your devices.
4. Find a partner. Remember the saying two is better than one? Sharing a goal with someone else is a great way to motivate you. Find a gym buddy, cook healthy meals with your significant other or make travel plans with a fellow adventurer. You don’t need to find a partner with the exact same goals but having a partner to keep you in check is a great way to stay on track!
Remember, do the best you can each day, and take each day one at a time. Everyone slips up now and then and obsessing over a little slip won’t help you achieve your goals.
