It is no secret that I am a sucker for a good makeover. Whether it’s adding a coat of paint to the walls, a new beauty routine or changing up the display on the coffee table, little changes can have a big impact on overall appearance.
This is especially true in social media. I don’t know about you but I think a new profile/cover picture always bring new life to the same old Facebook page– and if you make them compliment each other you get extra points in my book!
The latest makeover to CaveGirl came when I decided to take the plunge and switch from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. Let me tell you this is not without hesitation. I had only been blogging for a few months and though I know some HTML, I am my no means an expert. After consulting with some fellow bloggers (major shout outs to Rachel at Life Unsweetened and Jacey at Damel in Dior), I realized that you never get anywhere by playing it safe. So I went for it. I had a few minor hiccups along the way but with some research and guidance (and some late night coding sessions with the fabulous Rachel), I am now well versed in wordpress and HTML.
A note to all of my fellow bloggers out there looking to make the switch, or just some small edits to your blog’s appearance, remember it takes time and patience but in the end all of your hard work will pay off!
One last shout out to my little sis Lex for helping me come up with the concept for the header image, that art degree was well deserved!
I hope you enjoy the new site, take a look around and check out the new sidebar, complete with Cave Girl Reads and Cave Girl Cravings!
xo, Kenzie
