So those of you who are not Paleo may be reading my blog and asking yourself, “So can you eat anything on Paleo?” My typical response when I am out and someone asks me this is, anything that you could hunt or gather as a caveman. But, as we learned from my last post “They should have tried harder,” that isn’t inherently true. Some things that one — like me– would expect to be able to eat are actually off limits.
Below I put together a quick reference guide of what foods you can and can not eat on Paleo. This list is definitely not exhaustive, but it is a good start for those of you that are curious and/or contemplating becoming Paleo.
Foods You Should Eat:
- Meats (including seafood)
- Eggs
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Nuts and Seeds
Foods You Can Eat in Moderation:
- Oils
- Coffee
- Tea
- Wine
- Dried Fruits
- Dark chocolate
Foods You Should Avoid:
- Dairy Foods
- Cereal Grains
- Legumes
- Salt-Containing Foods
- Fatty Meats
- Soft Drinks
- Sweets
If you follow these guidelines, I promise you will be rewarded. I have already noticed that my energy is up (although there is no way I’d ever give up my morning cup of coffee), I’ve been feeling better and my clothes are fitting better.
Keep your eyes out for my next post to see some of the amazing meals we’ve been creating!
