Okay, I admit this is not your typical smoothie but when my friend S posted an Instagram of her “paleo frappe” a few days ago I jumped at the chance to get my hands on a frozen caffeinated drink!. About two minutes after I texted her for the recipe, I was in the kitchen whipping up my first one. I was thrilled to cool of with a sweet treat and we all know how I feel about caffeine so it was truly a win win!
I made some form of a paleo frappe just about everyday since, changing up the ingredients until I found perfect recipe. Below I’ve shared the basic (modified) recipe but if your looking for something extra special add a 1/4 cup of almond or cashew butter. It’s like a peanut butter cup in a glass!
Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of cooled coffee
- 1/2 cup of canned coconut milk
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 8 ice cubes
- 1 tsp organic unsweetened coco power
- 1 tsp organic raw honey
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
Directions:
- Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a glass (or to go cup) and serve!
As a reminder, throughout July I’ll be sharing some of my favorite smoothie recipes with you, along with how to replace not so paleo ingredients in traditional smoothie recipes with healthy paleo alternatives. The smoothie take over will culminate with a Ninja Professional Blender giveaway at the end of the month!
