You would have to be living under a rock not to know that Valentine’s day is two weeks away– after all the candy and cards have been in stores since Christmas! While I have been curating my his and hers gift guides, I haven’t forgotten about the best gifts of all… home made gifts! Whether it is a red construction paper heart filled with a poem and outlined in glitter or fancy homemade bath salts, home made gifts take the cake in my book. They are thoughtful, personal and really show someone how much you care.
If you are looking for a home made gift idea for your significant other, why not show them how much you you love them with this easy DIY “Home is wherever I’m with you” frame.
You will need:
- A frame
- A computer and printer
- Craft or printer paper
- A red pen or marker
Instructions:
1. Go to Google Images (or a similar photo search engine) and search for a map of your liking (I did a map of the United States but you could search for an individual state, world map, or a different country).
2. Once you have decided on a map save the image to your computer.
3. Open Microsoft Word (or a similar word processing program and insert the photo you had just saved to your computer.
4. Once your map is open, resize and crop it to the size you want (I chose to do mine as a 5×7 photo to fit in the frame I chose).
5. Insert a text box on top of your image with the words “Home is wherever I’m with you” (you can personalize the font size, color and typeface) and move the text around until it is in the place you think looks best.
6. Once you have it the way you like it hit print.
7. Cut the picture to fit in the frame.
8. Use a red pen or marker to draw small hearts in all of the places you’ve lived or traveled together.
9. Put the picture in the frame!
