There is something extra special about homemade gifts. While I always enjoy finding the perfect present for everyone on my list, I get even more excited to see someones eyes light up because of a gift that I made.
This rosemary-infused salt is a little more challenging than my last few crafts– you actually need to use the stove– but it is still easy for anyone to make. Not only does this fragrant spice smell amazing while you are cooking it, it tastes even more delicious and can be substituted for regular old salt in any savory recipe.
You will need:
- 1 three-pound box of kosher or sea salt (about 8 cups)
- Fresh rosemary
Instructions:
1. In a large, high-sided pan, combine salt and rosemary. Warm thoroughly over medium heat for about 10 minutes.
2. Transfer salt and rosemary mixture to a container. Let cool 5 minutes, uncovered; then cover with an airtight lid and let stand at least overnight.
3. While your sea salt is cooling and infusing, find some ribbon, card stock and a pair of ribbon, and make some fun tags!
4. Discard old rosemary and fill containers (or mason jars), with salt. Use fresh sprig rosemary to garnish and seal containers.
