My favorite “craft” of the holiday season is without a doubt the tree! The tree is a giant blank canvas that you can decorate to match your decor, exude holiday cheer and capture memories from over the years. I like to put the tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving and leave it up until the pine needles are sprinkling the floor after New Years.
Perhaps one of the most overlooked parts of the tree is the tree skirt. Garland, lights and ornaments tend to capture the most attention, but– like most outfits– no tree is complete without the perfect skirt!
Here are some of my favorite tree skirts this season.
However, as J and I are still building our stock pile of holiday decorations, we didn’t want to spend a lot on a tree skirt that may go out of style or not match our next apartment. Instead, we made our own!
You will need:
- about 3 yards of burlap or fabric of your choice
Instructions:
- Unfold the burlap and strategically wrap it around the base of the tree– be sure to leave enough room to water the tree!
Be sure to check back next week for a Cave Girl Crafts post on wrapping!
What is your all time favorite holiday decoration and why?
