Although it seems like a simple concept, it took me a long time to learn the best way to turn a head of lettuce into the thinly shredded lettuce you find in restaurants, or pre-shredded at the grocery store. This technique can be used for a variety of different types of lettuce, I find it is easiest with a head of iceberg lettuce.
