Put bluntly, mornings are hard. The alarm goes off and, if you’re like me and enjoy using the snooze button, you only have a short amount of time before you have to be put together and out of the door. With a schedule like this (and no desire to wake up any earlier!), it is a little bit difficult to get a nutritious breakfast, which experts say is the best foundation for your health and a productive day.
Because of this, I have become a HUGE fan of making smoothies in the morning (albeit, due to my morning routine, J is usually the one to actually make them) that I can easily grab and go! With some strategic planning at the grocery store, it’s simple to make a tasty and healthy drink that can help kick your morning food cravings and prevent you from stopping for a morning bagel on your way to work. Our Ninja Professional Blender is up to the challenge of getting the job done, and even blends into a single serve cup for mornings when I’m super rushed to get out of the house.
Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing some of my favorite smoothie recipes with you, along with how to replace not so paleo ingredients in traditional smoothie recipes with healthy paleo alternatives. The smoothie take over will culminate with a Ninja Professional Blender giveaway at the end of the month!

This Strawberry Fields smoothie is a play on a simple strawberry smoothie with a little banana to add a bit of depth. I found the original recipe (below) in The Blended Drink Handbook by Ninja and modified it to be paleo. I love the simplicity of the smoothie because it uses only five ingredients that we always have on hand!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries (frozen work as well!)
- 1/2 cup of ice cubes
- 1/2 medium banana peeled
- 2 tbsp. low-fat milk (we replaced with coconut milk)
- 6 oz strawberry yogurt (we replaced with the other half of a banana plus a tbsp of chia seed gel)
Directions:
- Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a glass (or to go cup) and serve!
