A few weeks ago I was thrilled when I came across a “paleo” section in my local market. I found jerky, granola bars and a number of other snacks made for the modern caveman – or cavegirl. Thrilled, and in a hurry, I scooped up a few things and headed to check-out. Unfortunately, when I sat down at home to look at what I had gathered, I found that I was duped. Even though these snacks claimed to be paleo on the packaging, the ingredient list told a different story.
The moral of the story is always read your label and don’t take marketing at face value. The only way to really know if something is compliant with the way you eat is to read the ingredients and determine for yourself. Above I have compiled a few helpful hints to help you navigate the market and weed through all of those “healthy” options.
Good luck!
