Last weekend my box held its inaugural Kettle Ball event! Everyone got dressed up, put on their heels and made their way to the box for a night of cocktails, appetizers and lots of laughs. Because I recently switched boxes due to the move, it was a great opportunity to meet not only the other gym members, but the coaches!
I contributed to the event with a table of savory bite-size appetizers, including this recipe for Bacon Wrapped Dates. I almost feel guilty calling this a “recipe” because the assembly is just as easy as it sounds. Wrap the dates in bacon! While this may be the easiest recipe on Cave Girl to date, it was also one of my biggest crowd pleasers. In less than 20 minutes the cutting board was clear of all of the Bacon Wrapped Dates I had prepared. Next time, I’ll have to make a few more!
This recipe is easy – I mean really easy – to follow and super quick! My suggestion after wrapping over 100 dates is to use cold (not frozen) bacon. The longer the bacon sits out while you are prepping, the warmer it gets and the more difficult it is to use without it falling apart. If you are making this recipe for a party, I suggest doubling the recipe. If you are having a large group like we did last weekend you may want to quadruple it!
- 12 slices of bacon
- 24 whole, pitted dates
- 24 toothpicks
- Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees
- Cut bacon in half, width-wise
- Wrap each date in a half-strip of bacon
- Secure with toothpick at overlap
