I am a girl who loves to have a hobby.
A typical busy body, I always seem to get more done when I have more to do– well I guess that makes sense for obvious reasons. In high school it was student council, Model UN, cheerleading, lacrosse and two part time jobs. In college it was sorority eboard, multiple internships, part time jobs and maintaining my A average (while simultaneously crossing every bar in Boston off my bucket list).
There is no question that planning the decorations for our new apartment on Pinterest leaves quite a bit of downtime for other activities. Although traveling the world would be my ideal next hobby, that’s just not feasible with a full time job and student loans. Therefore, when J and I decided to go Paleo, I thought, “YES! a new hobby for me to obsess over!” (No judgement please).
Everyday I find some time to learn something new about primal eating. I read blogs, research the history and science behind of Paleo, and most importantly find new recipes. I also spend a lot of time planning meals for the upcoming week and making a grocery list!
Going Paleo is not only about eating the right kinds of foods, but learning why eating those foods is more beneficial than eating others– more on this later!
Obviously, in addition to learning and planning what to eat, the next step is cooking, cooking and more cooking. So far this has been the most time consuming aspect of our new lifestyle, but by planning and preparing ahead we’ve been able to handle it.
Our most recent meal, and one of our favorites by far was chicken piccata, spinach salad and yam spears. It was easy to make, little clean up and delicious! You can find these recipes and more in Everyday Paleo.
