Well, moving day was actually last Saturday but let’s pretend I didn’t pack my power cord in a box without charging my computer!
Let me start out by saying I absolutely could not be happier. Not only am I in love with the new apartment but I am thrilled to be living with my all time favorite person!
Moving day went extremely well, all thanks to our excellent planning and preparation! There were a few hiccups during the day, but we handled them all without loosing our cool. Cars parked in the spots clearly marked for moving vehicles and a little rain couldn’t put a damper on our spirits!
Thanks to the help of a few very good friends and Precision Moving we were all unloaded and in the new apartment by about 3pm on Saturday. And, thanks to our inspiration boards, we were all unpacked and decorated before dinner the following day. While I am well aware that my need to plan and organize is annoying, I have no doubt it proved useful, this time. J and I had been working for months to make sure we had everything we needed for the move. We used inspiration boards (basically word documents with pictures) to capture all of the furniture and decorations we liked so that we could plan how each room would look. After a shopping trip or three to Ikea, we had just about everything ready and were able to combine our two tastes into one amazing apartment.
One place that I am especially proud of, and excited about, is the kitchen. A few weeks before moving in we found out that the owner of the apartment was completely renovating the kitchen. While I was sad to lose the charm that came with yellow counter tops and a black and white tiled floor, I was excited for brand new cabinets and appliances. The day before moving in, we still didn’t have a plan for decorating the kitchen, but luckily everything we already had worked perfectly!
The lack of counter space will be a hurdle but, since we are Paleo, we buy very little food that has to be kept in the few cabinets we have. And now we have a brand new fridge to stock with fruits and vegetables!
