Just days after purchasing my favorite NARS blush, I accidentally knocked it off the counter. Like a scene from a movie I swooped down trying, but failing, to catch the compact before it hit the tile floor. I quickly picked it up and said a little prayer that my blush was still in tact. Unfortunately, when I opened the case the palate was in a million tiny pink pieces.
When I showed J what had happened, he’s response was “No worries, we can go get another one.” And when I told him how much this little compact cost, he nearly fell over.
Determined not to waste an otherwise perfectly good (and almost brand new) compact, I sucked it up and used the carefully used a brush to apply the tiny pieces every morning. However, my once solid compact, was now loose powder and coated everything in my makeup case.
After a week or two of putting up with pink, sparkly finger tips every time I did my makeup, I stumbled upon a little trick on Pinterest. In three simple steps I was able to fix the compact and it practically looks like new!
First add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the powder. I started with a few drops and added more as needed.
When the rubbing alcohol mixes with the powered, it creates a paste. Flatten out the paste and form it back into its original shape with your finger or a spoon. For best results let it air dry open, overnight!
