My favorite dessert growing up was ice cream. No questions asked. I would have eaten it for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I was allowed. No matter if it was 5 degrees or 105 degrees, my sweet of choice was always ice cream.
When asked during ice breakers as a kid to name your favorite ice cream flavor, I could never pick just one. Peanut butter, mint chocolate chip, cake batter, chocolate fudge brownie, plain old vanilla. The options are endless and I loved every single one!
I would even settle for frozen yogurt or sherbet, just to have a sweet, cold treat!
When I went to San Francisco and tried Red Mango for the first time, I was sold on frozen tart yogurt as well. Red Mango, Pinkberry, Zinga, Berryline, Orange Peel, Peach Wave, etc. There’s a million different brands out there and over the past few years they’ve exploded in Boston. Every neighborhood boasts at least one frozen yogurt chain — my personal favorite is Berryline.
Well, while contemplating going Paleo, ice cream and frozen yogurt were what I was most upset about having to give up. Therefore I knew it was fate when I found Yonanas on our first Paleo grocery shopping trip about two months ago.
Whenever I try to explain Yonanas to someone they either don’t understand me, or don’t believe me. Basically “Yonanas is an ice cream machine that works by using frozen bananas, other frozen fruits and other ingredients to create healthy soft serve ice cream.” I think that its more like frozen yogurt than ice cream, but you get the picture!
Either way, it’s DELICIOUS! Its also easy to use and clean. Not to mention, just like ice cream, you can make a ton of different flavors using different fruits. Best of all it’s PALEO FRIENDLY!
