Thank you for bearing with me over the past few weeks while I gave the blog a little face lift! I am pretty excited about the new design and functionality of the blog and hope that the changes will only help you use this little blog as a better resource moving forward.
Today I am pretty excited to introduce you to a fabulous new paleo find – DRINKmaple. By now I am sure that you have all heard about coconut water and the numerous benefits that drinking pure coconut water can give you. Well, another excellent source of pure, clean water is a maple tree.
Pure maple water is the sap that comes straight from maple trees. It is a natural hydration and refreshing drink that is packed with 46 naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, antioxidants and prebiotics. In fact, DRINKmaple contains more manganese than one cup of kale and half of the sugar of coconut water.
While DRINKmaple tastes great on its own, I decided the subtle hint of maple flavor would be the perfect compliment to a sweet smoothie. With a banana, nut butter and cacao powder on hand, this recipe seemed like a no brainier.
- 1 banana
- 2 tbsp nut butter
- 1½ tbsp cacao powder
- ½ cup maple water
- ⅔ cup ice
- 1 scoop protein powder (optional)
- Combine all ingredients in a powerful blender (like the Ninja Ultima) and mix until smooth!
